Career Break Scheme
The Society has initiated a modest scheme to help members having difficulty
returning to work in the field of health physics after a career break,
perhaps to raise a family or because of long-term illness. The Society
may be able to offer some limited financial assistance. For example,
this could be to pay for child-care for attending a short course, or perhaps
the fees for a course or conference. Applicants should write to the
SRP Secretary setting out the case. Supporting information should
include the length and reason for the career break and full details of
the support being sought.
Each case will be considered on its merits. General guidelines
are:
-
minimum length of break 3 years.
Types of support that will be given priority are:
-
child-care for absence of up to one week, to enable attendance at an event
that will enhance prospects of returning to work in health physics;
-
fees for attendance at a short course or conference (max one week) to update
knowledge;
-
travel and subsistence to attend such an event.
The scheme is available only to existing full or associate members of the
Society.
