British Institute of Radiology (BIR) Chernobyl 25 Years On: Consequences, Actions and Thoughts for the Future 12 December 2011, London 25 years on from Chernobyl this meeting aims to review the biological consequences of the disaster and discuss current measures of preparedness for any subsequent incident in terms of response and monitoring. Topics covered will include: Biological consequence of radiation exposure, How to cope with a radiation accident, How to monitor exposed population at risk, Personal experience and response. Radiation Shielding in Medical Imaging & Radionuclide Therapy Thursday 19 January 2012, The Geological Society, London This conference will cover the requirements for Radiation Protection Shielding and the involvement of the User and Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs) in the design of New and Existing facilities, and aims to inform and update delegates on regulatory requirements to provide shielding for radiation and issues encountered by RPAs, Architects and Contractors during the construction.
