Naming files

Notes for members who supply slide shows for the web site

The convention for naming files of presentations for the web site is:

hhmmnnnnn.xxx

where hhmm is the scheduled start time of the presentation (24 hour clock), nnnnn is the surname of the presenter (truncated to 14 characters) and xxx is the file extension.

For example, the file name of a PowerPoint presentation by Harry Moseley at 14:35 would be 1435moseley.ppt

Using this convention, the files will automatically be listed in the index in the same order as the programme.

For events longer than one day, create a directory for each day's presentations, for example, 070424keele and 070425keele for the two day meeting at Keele, 24-25 April 2007.
