Hosted by the Department for Transport of the United Kingdom, in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, the International Maritime Organization and the World Nuclear Transport Institute.
Thanks to Sheila Liddle for supplying the following note promoting PATRAM 2010 and highlighting the benefits of early registration.
PATRAM 2010
Spring has arrived in the United Kingdom and with it, the early birds are catching the worms. This, however, is not an ornithological observation - it is a reminder that the discounted "early bird" registration line for the PATRAM Symposium, to take place in London, 03-08 October, now is open. But the discounted rates will not last for long so, for those with a close eye on conference budgets, you may want to pay an early visit to the PATRAM website at www.patram2010.org
All the signs are good that the London PATRAM is on course for a highly relevant, important and productive global gathering of stakeholders in the safe, effective and reliable packaging and transport of radioactive materials of all kinds. A record number of Abstracts were submitted - far surpassing any previous PATRAM - nearly 400 - from Competent Authorities, inter-governmental organisations, industry associations and industry. Through judicious planning virtually all will be accommodated through a creative mix of oral presentations, an enhanced variety of panel discussions, and a strong poster session. This programme will be complemented by a series of plenary sessions which will feature high profile key note speakers. The preliminary programme will be ready to view on the website from late April.
Numerous networking opportunities will be available throughout the week, starting with the welcome reception and not forgetting the symposium dinner to be hosted in one of the most prestigious British landmark buildings, the Royal Court of Justice.
The exhibit stands have long since been completely taken up and we regret that some applicants have had to be disappointed. But all is not lost, because there remains a number of interesting sponsorship opportunities to raise the profile of companies at this global gathering.
Judging from the Abstracts submitted, and the impressive roster of plenary speakers, this Symposium has every prospect of living up to its ambitious theme - "Looking to the Future". And in the same spirit we look forward to seeing you at PATRAM.
