SRP Election
Corporate Members will shortly receive their ballot papers for the election of two Council members for 2011/14.

The four nominees are:

Amber Bannon

Amber joined ICI in 1988 as a research and development chemist, eventually becoming an environmental development chemist advising on regulatory compliance and improving performance by liaising with regulators. She joined the Environment Agency in 2000, working as a Regulatory Officer for radioactive substances regulation, before becoming a technical specialist for radioactive substances regulation in 2009. She has been a member of SRP since early 2008, becoming an active member of the Practical Radiation Protection Topic Group in early 2009. She remains keen to promote and capture members' expertise, and raise the profile of the Society, by identifying and producing key guidance documents and organising meetings that address the practical issues that radiation protection professionals face very day. By becoming a Council Member she hopes that she will have more opportunities to influence the future of the Society and further improve its reputation for sharing knowledge and promoting radiation protection.

Ludovic Chevallereau

Ludovic came to Kingston University in 1995 after his French national service in chemical and nuclear emergency response teams. He completed a degree in Environmental Sciences in 1997 at Kingston University where he then worked as senior technical officer, RPS and Deputy RPO and also ran the university consultancy. He obtained his MSc in Environmental and Radiation Protection from Guildford in 2000 and in 2001 he joined AEAT Consulting, now Serco, at Winfrith as a Safety Case Writer. Ludovic rapidly got involved in RP related projects for Defence and Civil projects in the UK and around the world. Ludovic obtained his RPA certificate in 2009. He joined the Ionising Radiations Metrology Forum (IRMF) at NPL in 1997 and is part of the Good Practice Guide No30 writing group on Practical Radiation Monitoring. A founding member of the SRP's Rising Generations Group, he also chairs the Awards Committee (AC).

Jennifer Humphries

Jennifer has worked in Radiation Protection at Sellafield since 2004. She was part of the organising committee for the Hazard vs Risk Meeting in Risley in June 2009 and helped to establish the Rising Generations Group Committee in February 2010. Both of these committees gave her an opportunity to see how getting more involved with running SRP allows your voice to be heard to influence and inspire others within the profession. Joining SRP Council is an exciting and challenging prospect for anyone, but as a representative of RGG she hopes to bring a new perspective to Council ensuring those who are beginning their career in Radiation Protection have a voice at the heart of SRP.

Peter Marsden

Peter is Head of Medical Physics at UCL Hospitals in London. He is a member of SRP's Practical Radiation Protection Topic Group and one of the two IPEM representatives on the Board of RPA 2000. In recent years, Chartered status and CRadP have established radiation protection as a profession and Peter wishes to help SRP build on that by supporting the qualification, training and development tools the Society can provide for its members, and also by providing information on RP to employers and those who work with radiation protection professionals in various sectors. Peter would support moves to provide more information and educational material on radiation to the public – especially to schools. Peter is also interested in working more closely with other RP societies in Europe.
