SRP Bursary Schemes
Application form and guidance (Microsoft Word 70KB)
The primary object of the Society for Radiological Protection is to
'promote and advance the science and culture of radiological protection
and allied fields'. To further this aim, the Society invites applications
for the following bursaries from UK and overseas students wishing to undertake
a recognised course, at a British University. Up to one scholarship and one studentship are made available each year.
- The SRP Scholarship
The course should lead to the degree of MSc and be specifically recognised
by the SRP Awards Committee as preparation for a career in Radiation Protection.
The value of the scholarship will be the full course fees (as applicable
to a UK national) plus a grant towards living expenses (£5,500 outside
London, £7,000 for London). The recipient will also be offered
mentoring as appropriate. Recipients undertaking an industrial placement
as part of their MSc thesis may apply for funding to assist with additional
costs.
- The SRP Studentship
The course should lead to the degree of MSc and be in the field of
radiological protection or an allied subject, provided that the course
has a considerable radiological protection content. The value of
the studentship will be the full course fees (as applicable to a UK national)
plus a sum of £500 which is intended to cover expenditure such as
books. The recipient will also be offered mentoring as appropriate.
Recipients undertaking an industrial placement as part of their MSc thesis
may apply for funding to assist with additional costs.
Conditions
In awarding the bursaries the Council of SRP has in mind the opportunities
that they might provide for existing members of the profession to acquire
further qualifications as well as the opportunities they may offer to new
graduates. Preference will be given to candidates intending to follow
a career in radiological protection in the UK. A condition of holding
either bursary will be that the recipient applies for membership of the
Society, if he or she is not already a member.
How to Apply
Applications should be submitted on the application forms available
here or from the SRP Administrative Office (admin@srp-uk.org) through the appropriate
department of the College or University at which study will be undertaken.

(b) a full description of the form and content of the course to be
undertaken;
(c) details of other financial support available to the candidate.
