This workshop is a follow-up to the one held in February 2023 and is aimed at all sectors using ionising radiation that require consents under IRR17.  There will be presentations in the morning and break-out sessions in the afternoon where participants can discuss the processes and issues around consents within their particular work sector, raise questions and seek advice from HSE and ONR inspectors.  See the draft programme here.

The morning sessions will comprise presentations from HSE, ONR and others covering:
1.           Updates on the introduction and bedding in of the new consents process and online applications platforms within HSE and ONR
2.           HSE and ONR timeframes for dealing with applications and indicative costs
3.           Guidance on safety assessments
4.           Industry experiences of the new consent process - successes and pitfalls

There will be time allocated for questions at the end of each presentation and a discussion session at the end of the morning.  The afternoon will consist of a breakout session for participants to discuss in smaller groups any issues within their sectors.  This will be followed by reporting back and discussions on the way forward for each sector.
